Dhanurasana

When our body becomes a little flexible with Bhujangasana, it becomes easy to perform Dhanurasana. Here, in the pose of Dhanurasana, a person feels a stretch at the front portion of the upper body and contraction of the back portion of the upper body. So, all the organs on the back sides of your body are getting relaxed while all the organs of font side of your upper body are getting exercised This exercise is a boon for many of us who suffer from any of the ailments mentioned below

Dhanurasana is a magical cure for many ailments like
  • Breathlessness
  • Backache
  • Pain in calf muscles of the leg
  • Acidity
  • Gastric trouble
  • Urine retention
  • Shoulder pain
  • Neck pain
  • Fat on tummy, thighs, hands, double chin, etc…

It can be performed easily by following some simple instructions, which are as follows;

Instructions:
Lie down facing the floor with your chin touching the floor. Bend the legs from the knees, hold ankle joint with palms. If you cannot easily do it with both the legs together, you can try this with one leg first. Lift your head and leg with the stretch of the leg. Try with the other leg. After some days surely you will it do with both the legs together. The body shape will be like a bow called dhanushya (Dhanur). So it is called Dhanurasana.

Little variation in Dhanurasana:
When you have enough practice and  are confident that you can perform Dhanurasana, try this position. After reaching the pose of Dhanurasana make an effort and lift knees from the floor 3” to 4” up. So head and knees both are lifted somewhat from the floor. This way full back is contracted and full front is stretched.
Then rock your body from front to back and vice a versa for a few times. This could be done from left to right as well. This helps fat reduction, gastric trouble and digestion of food.
