Yoga for Arthritis and Back Pain


We must first understand what arthritis is! It means decalcification and demineralization of the bones. This is caused mainly due to bad posture of body while doing any activities in sitting, standing or sleeping positions - and lack of minerals and calcium in food. So first we must take care of the right postures and right foods. Sit and stand erect, and sleep on left side and take pillow of such thickness that is of your neck height.. In terms of food, eat green leafy vegetables. Fresh vegetables are good for calcium and minerals.

Temporary we can take calcium tablet if it is needed only under the advise +of your doctor. Doing yogasana, or pranayam also helps to cure arthritis.

Any pain physical or mental is cured more than 50% by meditation.

For meditation we can sit straight in Sidhhasana or Sukhasana or even on chair, close eyes, concentrate on slowly long, breathing in and exhaling and after that with the same procedure concentrate on your forehead between the eyebrows. This can be done for five minutes or more

For joint pain, practicing yogasana is surely very much helpful but only under the guidance of yoga experts

For back pain (backache) here are some yogasana which will surely help to cure or reduce the pain, but again it is advisable to do them under the supervision of some yoga expert.


Doing the above asana’s is very helpful for the back and should be done by people with back problem regularly under proper guidance.
