1) Yoga MAT: The floor mat should be such that it prevents you from slipping down while practicing your poses. It should be able to provide comfort to your body. It is available in many materials and the advisable ones are thick woolen, velvet, or thick cotton material called carpet or ‘shetaranji.’
2) Pullies with thick ropes: This Pullies have three wheels one in the middle, two at the sides, with a hook on top that is attached to a hook on the wall, and at the ends of these ropes are 3 rubber rings, that hold your feet on one side and hands on the other side. If you pull hands by sides automatically your legs gets raised. This helps to lift the legs easily from the floor till they are at least 90-degree angle.
3) Blocks or wedges: Generally the blocks or wedges are made of either coir or foam. They are rectangle in shape and thickness differs on two sides i.e. one edge is thicker than the other, so it creates a slope. You have to put it under the calf muscles (legs) so that your feet heels stay higher than the knees.
4) Straps: Straps are an important help in some yoga poses, and they're also helpful for many beginners whose bodies are not fully flexible yet. If you're not yet able to complete a certain pose, a strap can help you make the connection and hold the pose longer. Some straps have loops on one or both ends to allow you to hook a hand or foot more easily.
5) Bolsters or breathing pillows: These are soft and long pillows. Generally it is placed under the spine while lying on the back to create a gentle arch. This opens the chest, makes breathing (pranayama) easier. Similarly it can also be placed under the knees to ease the lower back in Savasana i.e. relaxing pose.
6) Meditation (Zafu) pillows: This pillow is specially made thin and soft. While doing Padmasana (lotus) if you sit on this Zafu pillow your knees are forced toward the floor and your spine becomes straight automatically. Sitting for a long time for meditation will be comfortably possible with this pillow, as it gives the perfect pose i.e. erect spine- knees toward floor- hips open and relaxed, without any stress.
7) Spring tummy trimmer: It is a good product for beginners since their body is stiff. They can’t sit up immediately from lying position without support. A strong spring is attached with handles and holders. You just put your feet into the holders and hold the handles properly in lying pose, then first stretch with hands and try to lift the legs at the same time till it comes to ninety degree angle. Then go back i.e. take your legs down again and take the back up- sit down erectly. This is very helpful, to get up fast from lying position, when your body is stiff.
8) Jal neti pot: It is a pot like kettle having spout on one side and handle on the other. Fill it with slightly salted Luke warm water, bend your body a little forward at sixty degree angle and head on slight one side. From the other nostril touch the spout of pot, allow the water into the nose and breathe with mouth. The water will come out from the other nostril and sinus will be cleared. This is a miraculous cure for all sinus patients.
