Yoga Therapy
Everybody knows that yoga is a blessing for health. It gives immense mental and physical freshness. Unlike other exercises, yoga asana's will never leave you exhausted and tired. But how does this happen? To understand this and perform yoga asana's properly we need to understand the yoga therapy.
These day's people are very health and fitness conscious. They know the importance of exercise. But all other physical exercises are only related to body parts, which are used for that particular exercise, but any yoga asana performs on mind as well as body so it is affects both as blood circulation flows equally to brain and body when we do yoga.
Stretching and relaxation are equally used for both mind and body by rhythm of breathing and yoga activities. You can reach the top (goal) of the yoga hill if you know the sequence of yoga activities by means of ashtanga yoga. It means what shall be done in the beginning and what shall be gradually followed is important for reaching goal. The goal could be any of your wishes, either keeping healthy or reducing fat or spiritual, yoga can help you achieve any of these if you follow the right sequence It is important to know which asana should be done first and which should be followed.
If yogasana's follows cleaning activities called shudhhi kriyas, they are more effective for health and freshness. Shuddhi kriyas clean (purify) body parts and blood so body parts are eligible to perform yogasana's. So we feel at ease while performing these asana's after the shuddhi kriya's.
Netra (eyes) Dhoti, Jal Neti, Vaman (vomiting), Sutra Dhoti etc. are shudhhi kriyas. In ancient days Indian monks and saints used to take out their intestines, would clean them, dry them and than again put them in their original place. Difficult to believe, isn't it? Don't worry, we are not expecting you to remove your intestines here. We give you means of performing the same cleaning exercises easily
According to one of Mumbai's leading institution, named Ambika yoga Kutir, Sutra dhoti and Vaman is not needed daily. Sutra dhoti can be performed once in three or six months according to what our health permits, and Vaman daily for fifteen days in the beginning, later on followed by once in three months. This will keep your bowels and intestines clean and healthy.
In our daily busy routine, all shudhhi kriyas are not possible, so I will suggest some of them, which are easy and necessary to prevent and cure the most common problems due to pollution and fast stressful life.
They are: Netra Dhoti, Jal Neti, and Vaman
- Netra Dhoti: Fill your mouth with water. Bend down a little on the wash basin. Take water into your palm and splash on one eye, repeat it at least ten times, and breathe normally. Then spit out water from mouth.
Fill mouth again and repeat the procedure with the other eye. Increase the number of times water is splashed gradually. This shudhhi kriya cleans your eye, increase blood circulation for all organs related to eyes, keep eyesight healthy- prevents eye number- and also helps avoid / delay cataract. In ancient times this was the reason monks had no need of cataract operation
- Jal Neti: This kriya can be done with help of Neti pot in the beginning and after a long practice, can be done with your palms or a water drinking glass. Fill up lukewarm water in Neti pot, add a pinch of salt in it, bend little left side and little in front, pour water slowly in right nose, breathe with open mouth, automatically water will pass through and drain out from left nose.
Repeat it with the other nose by bending other side and front. This will clean your full sinus passage and prevent and cure all sinus related problems. It will keep you fresh for the whole day and will give also you a peaceful night's sleep. - Vaman:Vaman should be done in the morning. Make six to eight glasses of Luke warm water, sit in Kagasana posture and slowly drink the water, if you experience vomiting sensation in between you can try vomiting.
After that again sit in the Kagasana posture and drink the remaining water. Then try to vomit out all water with your two middle fingers. This helps cleaning of your bowels and. intestines and increases blood supply to all abdominal organs. This makes all abdominal organs healthy and strong. According to Ayurveda medical science if your abdominal organs are working perfectly your full body will be healthy.
Remember Vaman should be done once in three months and rest on that day as you may feel a little weakness on that day but do not worry. Next day you will be active and fresh.
Yogasana should be followed by Netra dhoti and Jal Neti every morning after bath. Eating healthy food and following the right sequence of yoga is the secret of healthy life.
